Obtaining the necessary licenses together with the design of the new reactor is expected to be completed around 2020.
There are a number of laws, decrees, regulations, guidelines and plans applicable to PALLAS. The most important ones are:
- Nuclear Energy Act (Kernenergiewet / KEW) for the construction and operation of PALLAS. An important part of the application for the KEW-license is the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and the Safety Analysis Report (SAR).
- Water Act for all direct water discharges
- General Provisions Environmental Law for the location-related activities, such as construction of buildings and construction and use of roads
- Nature Conservation Act for the conservation of nature protection areas (Natura 2000)
The durations of licensing procedures are laid down by law General Administrative Law Act (Algemene wet bestuursrecht / Awb). The different licensing procedures and their duration are included in the project planning.
