This spring (2015) PALLAS commenced an informal market consultation regarding the design and construction of the PALLAS-reactor. During this exercise, PALLAS wishes to engage with all technology providers that are capable to design and manage the construction of its new reactor. It is the intention of PALLAS that the formal tender process to select the Designer Nuclear Island (DNI) will start before 1 August 2015.
As part of the informal market consultation PALLAS will be holding a Bidders’ Conference in Alkmaar between 2 and 4 June 2015. During this three day conference in Alkmaar (Theatre De Vest), PALLAS will provide potential DNIs with detailed information about the design and licensing of the PALLAS-reactor, including technical and commercial requirements, project timescales and the procurement process.
PALLAS would be pleased to receive applications to attend the Bidders’ Conference from nuclear technology providers which have previous experience in designing and building nuclear reactors. Any such applications should be addressed to Simon Harris (contact details below) and should include a summary of previous nuclear reactor projects delivered by the applicant.

PALLAS in brief
The Foundation Preparation PALLAS-reactor (PALLAS) aims to realise a state-of-the art multi-purpose reactor which is suitable for producing (medical) isotopes and for supplying a wide range of irradiation services. This reactor is to replace the current High Flux Reactor (HFR) in Petten (NL).
PALLAS was founded on December 16, 2013 with the purpose to prepare a design, to obtain the necessary licenses and to assure that there are private resources available (phase 1) for the construction and commissioning (phase 2) of the PALLAS-reactor.
For the first phase the Dutch government has granted a loan of 80 million euros. The design, construction and commissioning combined will take about ten years. The lifetime of the new reactor is at least forty years.
