Nuclear medicine – Linda de Wit

We asked Linda de Wit, Technical Practitioner at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital in Amsterdam, her view on PALLAS.

‘In the future, the increasing use of existing cancer-specific tracers and the development of innovative tracers will boost the use of medical isotopes. Particularly the demand for therapeutic medical isotopes like lutetium-177 will increase in the years to come.

Globally, there are only a few reactors producing quality medical isotopes. Nuclear practitioners immediately find themselves in trouble if but one of the reactors malfunctions. The importance of the PALLAS-reactor for cancer patients cannot be overestimated.’
