Who is PALLAS?

Every day, 30,000 patients depend on medical isotopes from Petten. In order to guarantee security of supply in the future, preparations are now being made for the construction of the PALLAS-reactor and the realisation of the Nuclear Health Centre.

The Foundation Preparation Pallas-reactor (PALLAS) aims to realize a 'state-of-the-art' multifunctional reactor, which will be designed for the production of (medical) isotopes and for nuclear technological research. This reactor will replace the current High Flux Reactor (HFR) in Petten (NL). With the HFR, NRG produces medical isotopes with which doctors all over the world diagnose and treat life-threatening diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases. The Nuclear Health Centre will process and package medical isotopes into radio chemicals and radiopharmaceuticals (medicines). The development of this production facility runs parallel to the realisation of the PALLAS-reactor.

Function

Your risk management expertise will be added to the PALLAS PMO professionals, who are responsible for project planning and control of this> €1bln nuclear project. A firm challenge for you and the team. Not only because of the scale and budget, but moreover because it’s the first nuclear newbuild in the Netherlands since 50 years and a one of a kind nuclear reactor in the world. Such a project requires mature Risk Management. Therefore PALLAS developed a software program called WorQmanager - which is a well thought out risk tooling, and enables continuous risk monitoring, scoring and pro-active facilitating of schedule and cost impact according to the bow-tie method.

Activities

A brief summary of your activities:

• Facilitating risk sessions and maintaining the risk register within the organization;
• Monitoring risks by continual checking, supervising, critically observing or determining the status of risks;
• Supporting the project team in risk sessions and individual risk updates;
• Preparing the risk data for the project (progress) reports;
• Organizing and follow up Risk Sessions with main Contractors;
• Supporting QSRA and QCRA analysis as required;
• Follow up on the implementation of defined risk mitigation actions.

Your profile

You know all there’s to know about Risk management, preferably in larger infra projects and you’re looking for challenge in the hors category. Scale and complexity of the PALLAS project requires not only intellect, but also the ability to communicate and co-operate with various stakeholders from different backgrounds and cultures. Furthermore you:

• Hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering;
• Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant position;
• Familiar with Monte Carlo Analysis;
• Master English (fluently spoken and written);
• Are already living in or willing to move to the Alkmaar region.
