At the heart of the PALLAS Programme is a shared mission: to build a world-class medical isotopes reactor that will benefit patients globally. Achieving this mission requires more than just technical expertise — it requires people who believe in the purpose, care about the outcome, and are deeply committed to working together in a safe and respectful way.
Since its established in 2013, the PALLAS Programme (formerly PALLAS), has evolved from a small, pioneering team into a dynamic, international programme organisation. Today, over 700 people representing more than 30 nationalities work on the realisation of the new nuclear infrastructure. We are united not just by our goal, but by the shared values that guide us: respect and inclusivity, connected collaboration and communication, commitment to our goals, professionalism and integrity, and accountability to all our actions. As a nuclear organisation, fostering a safety culture is of utmost importance to us.
In this article we speak to Clarisa, Marisa, and Ramón who share their views on collaboration, safety culture within NRG PALLAS and our shared pride.
One Programme, One Team
“We are like ants that all together produce something big that we cannot produce only by ourselves,” says Clarisa Mocciaro, Design Manager at ICHOS. “We multiply all our efforts, share our responsibilities, to deliver and to achieve the final product for the Netherlands and the European society.”
Clarisa’s words reflect a powerful truth: delivering a nuclear project of this scale depends on unity across companies, cultures, and disciplines. Working together, employees from NRG PALLAS, FCC, ICHOS, and other partners bring their diverse perspectives and strengths to the table, all while holding shared responsibility for the final outcome.
A Culture Built on Safety and Curiosity
In the nuclear field, safety is not a task — it’s a mindset. A questioning attitude is central to our work. “A questioning attitude is about having a curious mind,” explains Marisa van der Walt, Deputy Technical Project Director and Engineering Manager PALLAS Programme. “It means trying to understand what the other person is thinking and saying, breaking down silos, and finding balanced solutions that are best for the project.”
Shared Pride, Shared Purpose
Across the programme, the sense of pride in contributing to something bigger than oneself is unmistakable. “It’s the way of working that I really enjoy — the diversity, the shared responsibility, the inclusion,” Clarisa adds. “These are the values that I feel within the organisation and really appreciate.”
Ramón Romero Correcher, Construction Director from FCC, shares this sense of purpose and pride: “Everyone has someone in their family or social circle who has relied on medical isotope treatment and we want to help ensure the continuous supply of such treatment. We are proud to work on such a state-of-the-art construction project. We are constructing the best of the best that the field has to offer: top-class infrastructure.”
